A DRAMA school helped to raise £200 for the Mayor of Hillingdon's charities with a production of A Midsummer Night's Dream.

The Stars At Knight School of Drama put on the performance in the Great Barn, Bury Street, Ruislip, to help raise money for Help the Aged and Ear 4 U.

Judy Kelly is the principal of the school, which she founded 12 years ago, and it is based at the Compass Theatre, in Glebe Avenue, Ickenham, on Saturday mornings.

She said: "It was supposed to be an open air event but rain drove us into the Barn, which is a wonderful venue for such events."

The school also gives lessons during the week in Uxbridge, Pinner and South Ruislip.

They are now about to start preparing for a performance of Robin Hood for a fundraising event by Ruislip Lions.

It is to be performed at the Winston Churchill Hall, in Pinn Way, Ruislip, on December 12.

To take part in the performance call Mrs Kelly on 020 8841 8940.

A FURTHER £80,000 has been allocated as part of the council's ward budget initiative. Spending has been approved for several new projects, although there is still £384,500 available until the end of December. The new projects are shown by ward, which each have £25,000 to spend.

A planning application has been lodged to bury Uxbridge Golf Course, off Harvil Road, Ickenham, under tonnes of landfill, which the committee and local residents are vehemently opposing.

A revised planning application has been submitted following uproar over plans to build three new homes.

The application is part of an ongoing Hillingdon Council project to build more affordable homes across the borough, and plans in St Giles Avenue, Ickenham, involve the demolition of several council owned garages.

Residents in the road, who raised a petition against the houses, also believed the road is at full capacity in terms of parking, and are worried green space will be at risk.

A meeting was held at the Compass Theatre last week for residents to meet with Hillingdon Council, which was well attended, and they were informed the original application had been withdrawn.

Instead a new application for one house has been submitted, and there will be consultation on this in due course.
