A DECISION regarding proposed retirement flats in Ickenham has been delayed after a series of errors were found in the planning report.
A Hillingdon Council planning committee were due to make a decision on the Swakeley's Road flats on Tuesday, October 28, but have had to postpone their decision until a later date.
There are two petitions against the flats containing 42 signatures along with 25 letters of objection.
Residents argue that the flats would be innappropriate for the location and are worried that approval will set a precedent for a flurry of similar flats in the area.
Supporters of the proposals believe that the flats will add to the community, and that old people living in the area looking to downsize will be able to stay in Ickenham.
Councillor Bruce Baker, who represents the Eastcote and East Ruislip ward, said: "There were some errors in the planning report so the committee were unable to make a full informed decision on the flats. It is likely they will reappear at the next North planning meeting and we will be able to make a decision then."
AN OVERBEARING house extension in Ickenham has been refused by Hillingdon Council, much to the relief of residents.
The large extension in Hoylake Crescent, Ickenham, attracted a petition of 35 signatures from residents, who felt the plans were not in keeping with the character of the area.
Mr Keeping, a resident of one of the adjoining properties, said: "If this had been limited to a single storey, there would be no objection, but the double storey aspect is unnacceptable to us.
"There may be places where this will fit perfectly, but Hoylake Crescent is not one of them, it is totally out of character with other houses in the area.
"It also sets a dangerous precedent, I have been approached by developers three times this year, their letters are on the fire.
"No one would like to see a rash of similar developments."
The development was also opposed by the Ickenham Residents Association.
The applicant Mr Walker disagreed with the assessment of the councillors who refused the proposals.
He said: "My neighbours houses in character are completely different to my house, they are all different shapes and sizes, it's a tiny house with a small kitchen, many houses along this road have large extensions."
Councillor David Allam said: "I think this extsneion is just too big, it'll almost make it look like a terrace rather than a detached house because you won't distinguish the gap between the two houses."
